Zum ersten Mal in Europa präsentiert die Kunsthalle München Meisterwerke kanadischer Impressionisten vom späten 19. bis ins frühe 20. Jahrhundert. Anhand von rund 120 teils noch nie öffentlich gezeigten Gemälden, vor allem aus kanadischen Museen und privaten Sammlungen, stellt die Ausstellung 36 Künstlerinnen und Künstler vor, die hierzulande – ganz zu unrecht – nahezu unbekannt sind.

Farewell-Feier Marthe Lemay

Die DKG Regionalgruppe Rhein-Ruhr hat es schon immer als große Auszeichnung empfunden, dass sich mit dem kanadischen Konsulat in Düsseldorf neben der Botschaft in Berlin und dem Konsulat in München eine Vertretung Kanadas in ihrem Bereich befindet. Über die Jahre haben wir auch die Zusammenarbeit mit den jeweiligen Konsulen und Konsulinnen sehr geschätzt. Dies gilt in ganz besonderem Maß für die jetzige Konsulin Marthe Lemay, die uns leider nach fünfjähriger Tätigkeit in Düsseldorf im August verlassen muss.

Kanadierrennen in Brohl am Rhein
Samstag, 17. August – Sonntag, 18. August 2019
Die DKG Rheinland lädt alle Mitglieder und Kanada-FreundInnen zum diesjährigen 10er Kanadierrennen im Brohler Hafen ein. Traditionell stellt die DKG Rheinland ein gemischtes 10-köpfiges Team. Langjähriger Leiter der DKG Gruppe Rheinland, Günter Engelke, legte den Grundstein für die Teilnahme an diesem traditionellen Kanadierrennen und Alex Dold, seine Nachfolgerin, setzte diese Tradition mit Resultatverbesserungen in der Rangfolge des Booteinlaufs fort. Nun möchte ich, Reinhold Kremer, gemeinsam mit euch auch in diesem Jahr ein DKG-Team an den Start gehen lassen.
Vorkenntnisse sind nicht gefragt – alle Teilnehmer der letzten Jahre waren Amateure, so suchen wir keine Paddelprofis. JedeR ist willkommen! Wer, wenn nicht wir als „KANAD(A)ier Profis“, ist besser qualifiziert für ein solches Rennen im Hafen von Brohl am Rhein?
Bei Interesse an einem Platz im Boot, meldet Euch baldmöglichst und sprecht eure Freunde und Bekannte an, damit auch sie uns helfen, ein gutes Bootsrennen auf’s Wasser zu legen. Mit eurer Hilfe rocken wir auch 2019 den Hafen von Brohl.

Canada Meetup Saarland

Die neu gegründete DKG-Regionalgruppe Saarland lädt alle KanadierInnen und Kanada-Fans aus dem Saarland und den angrenzenden Regionen zum ersten Canada Meetup ein. Speziell für dieses Treffen wird es im „Old Murphys“ neben dem normalen Speise- und Getränkeangebot verschiedene Sorten kanadisches Bier und sogar Poutine geben. Diese kanadische Atmosphäre eignet sich zum Kennenlernen, zum Erzählen von Erlebnissen aus Kanada und zum Finden gemeinsamer Interessen. Wir würden uns freuen, wenn wir an diesem Tag zahlreiche KanadierInnen und Kanada-Fans begrüßen dürfen und anschließend viele weitere Treffen folgen.

Neue DKG Regionalgruppe Stuttgart
Stefan Rizor und Martin Gutsch vom Vorstand der Deutsch-Kanadischen Gesellschaft sowie Hans Harald Grimm als ehemaliger Leiter der DKG Stuttgart haben anlässlich einer Veranstaltung des Deutsch-Kanadischen Wirtschaftsclubs am 25. Juli 2019 in Stuttgart mit dem Honorarkonsul Kanadas, Prof. Dr. Thomas Reith, Gespräche zur Wiederbelebung der DKG in Stuttgart geführt. Exhibition „Canada and the Impressionism“ in Munich

For the first time in Europe the Kunsthalle Munich presents masterpieces of Canadian impressionists from the late 19 century until the early 20 century. By means of 120 paintings from Canadian museums and collections that have partly never been shown to the public before, the exhibition introduces 36 artists, who are almost unknown here,

The DKG regional group Rhine-Ruhr has always felt it as a big award, that a Canadian representation with the Canadian Consulate in Düsseldorf is located in its region besides the Canadian Embassy in Berlin and the Consulate in Munich. The cooprporation with the Consuls has always been appreciated. This applies in particular for the current Consul Marthe Lemay, who has to leave Düsseldorf in August after five years of work.
That is the reason why we would thank Marthe Lemay in person before her departure for the long-standing, brilliant coorporations and for her generous support to the German-Canadian Association. Therefore we invite you to our Farewell-Party at the ship restaurant Canoo in Düsseldorf on August 8, 2019.

Various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as fingerfood will be served. Due to generous donations and sponsorships we could reduce the participation fee to 30 € per person. Canadian canoe races in Brohl / Rhine
Saturday, August 17 until 18, 2019
The DKG Rhineland invites all members, Canada Lovers and Canadians to the annual 10 people Canadian canoe race at the harbour of Brohl. Traditionally the DKG Rhineland has a mixed team with 10 people. Our Longtime Leader of the DKG Rhineland, Gunter Engelke, set the foundation stone for the participation in this traditional Canadian canoe race and Alex Dold, his successor, continued this tradition also with improvements in the final rankings. Now I, Reinhold Kremer, will do so together with your help and your support so that we again have a DKG-Team
Previous knowledge is not needed – all participants of the last years were amateurs, so we are not searching for paddling professionals. Everyone is heartily welcome! Who else but ourselves is better qualified for such a race in the harbour of Brohl / Rhine?
If you are interested to get a place in the canoe, please contact us as soon as possible and also forward the info to your friends and acquaintances, so that they also help us in supporting the DKG team. We will rock the harbour of Brohl 2019 with your help!

The new regional group of the German-Canadian Association in the Saarland invites all Canadians and Canada Lovers from the Saarland and its neighbouring areas to the first Canada Meetup. Especially for this meeting at the „Old Murphys“ Canadian beer as well as Poutine will be offered in addition to the regular menu and drinks. This Canadian atmopshere will be suitable for the first personal meetings, for sharing anecdotes from Canada and for finding common interests. Stefan Rizor and Martin Gutsch from the board of the German-Canadian Association as well as Hans Harald Grimm, former regional director of the DKG Stuttgart, held trendsetting talks on the occasion of an event of the German-Canadian Bussiness Club in Stuttgart on July 25, 2019 with the Honorary Consul of Canada, Prof. Dr. Thomas Reith, to revive the DKG activities in Stuttgart. The first interested partners indicated their willingness to corporate. But for a powerful team we need more team members.
